How can I learn more about the pre-apprenticeship program and register for it?

What is the Clean Energy Pre-Apprenticeship Program?
An apprenticeship readiness program designed to prepare those between the ages of 18-24 for entry into the IBEW apprenticeship program and successful careers in clean energy.
Do I have to pay to participate in this program?
This program is free to those who apply and are accepted.
When does the program take place?
The 10-week program will be held on Monday and Wednesday evenings plus a few Fridays and Saturdays.

What is expected of participants?
Participants are expected to attend all classes punctually, arrive prepared for class, dress appropriately, complete all assignments and comply with code of conduct.
Will I be paid for participating in this program?
Participants are not paid for this program. The benefit to participants is the exposure to the union electrical industry and clean energy.
What will I learn?
- 119 hours of classroom and hands-on training taught by experienced seasoned instructors
- Electrical safety
- Foundations of math
- OSHA 10 and First Aid/CPR
- DC Theory
- Tools of the Trade
- PV Systems
- Electrical conduit
Do I qualify for this program?
Participants in the program must:
- Be 18-24 years of age

- Have a high school diploma or equivalency
- Be drug free
- Be authorized to work in the United States
- Be physically capable of performing electrical work

Am I guaranteed entry into the IBEW apprenticeship program?
Graduates of the Clean Energy Pre-Apprenticeship Program must apply to the apprenticeship program just like other applicants, but will receive extra points in the application process.
Why is this pre-apprenticeship program being offered?
The construction industry is facing an aging workforce-the average age of an electrician in Massachusetts is 52. Additionally, there is an ever-increasing demand for clean energy solutions and a need for a skilled workforce to install, maintain and upgrade clean energy systems.
